Q. How long do eyelash extensions last?

A. The eyelash extensions last on average four to six weeks and then the client will need what is called a touch up(re-lavish) to replace any extensions that may have fallen off. I guarantee them for at least 4 weeks, but possibly longer if taken care of properly. Factors that affect the length that the extensions last include the client's lifestyle; the client’s natural lash cycle (we lose lashes every 28 – 30 days); the client's medical conditions; and the natural length and volume of the natural lashes. Eyelash extensions are beautiful on most but not right for everybody, so a complimentary consultation is recommended.

Q. What should I do before coming in for my eyelash extension appointment?

A. It is recommended that you shower BEFORE your appointment, as you will need to wait 24 hours before wetting your newly applied eyelash extensions to make sure they bond properly. Though you can wear makeup before getting eyelash extensions, try not to have any mascara on and make sure your eye area is clean of any makeup with oils.

Q. Can I get my lash extensions wet?

A. Yes 24 hrs after the application you can shower or go swimming. One of the great benifits of the lash extensions is the ability to go your honeymoon, beach or a vacation destination looking your best naturally without makeup. (So Splash away ladies!!!)

Q. How do I remove makeup when wearing eyelash extensions?

A. Because using products with oils in them will ruin your lashes, it is important to wear makeup that is NOT waterproof. The cleanser you use should not contain oil or glycerin and all other makeup should come off with your cleanser and water. If you have any questions, you can always bring your product in to be checked. You can purchase the mascara product that is safe for the lash extensions.

Q. Will my natural eyelashes fall out?

A. No! If the lash extensions are applied properly then there should be no hair loss at all. Because I am a licensed and certified technician, most experience an increase in length and volume of their own natural lashes. Eyelash extensions are a bond that protect the natural lash rather than repetitively damaging them with use of mascara, curlers, and other lash products. Properly applied extensions are single hairs that are bonded to each of your natural lashes without clumping.

Q. What do the lash extensions feel like?

A. While some people think the lashes feel a little funny for the first few hours, the majority of clients say they feel no difference at all. In fact, many say they forget they even have them until someone compliments them.

Q. Can I wear mascara with the eyelash extensions?

A. Most people get the lash extensions so that they just wake up looking great and don't have to put mascara on anymore. However, you can wear a specially formulated mascara with the lash extensions that comes off with water a oil- free cleanser. Many clients do this for special occasions or if they just love that mascara look, but many just drop the mascara altogether. If you choose to do this apply at the tips only (not at the base, it can loosen the bond).

Q. What should I look for when finding an eyelash extension specialist?

A. When you are seeking an eyelash extension specialist make sure to ask about the technician’s training. Get referrals from a website like Lavish Lashes or friends. Ask the technician: who certified them and where; how long have they been applying the extensions; and what products they use (the adhesive should be black and odorless). It is a good idea to ask to see some pictures of their work. Messy black lashes, clumping and flaking of the adhesive are all signs of bad work and could lead to problems.

Q. What do I do if I have had lashes put on that look clumpy or are falling off?

A. First, we recommend that you do not go back for service to the same person that did the bad work in the first place! If your lashes look like they are all stuck together, you need to have them removed by the person who applied them as soon as possible. Then call me for a follow up immediatly to evaluate the damage.

Q. Can you tan with eyelash extensions?

A. Yes, you can tan with eyelash extensions. Though you can self tan or go to a tanning bed, we highly recommend Airbrush Tanning as the best method to do so because they do this by hand, therefore having more control over where the formula goes
.
